IT Project Free Training Workshop Power BI Introductory Layer 1 Class

Description:

Learn how to use data from several sources, create visuals with your data to quickly make informed decisions and create useful dashboards for all levels of staff all using Power BI.

This training is limited to 10 people to get maximum attention from the instructor. Please only sign up if you know you can attend. We will take a waitlist and offer a second training if there is enough demand. There are prerequisites for this workshop please be sure to read them.

This training is designed for participants who are new to Power BI or want to review getting started with Power BI.

The training will involve a walkthrough of the Power BI Desktop user interface, connecting to sample data, creating visuals, publishing a Power PI report to the Power BI service, and creating a simple dashboard.

There will be a 30-minute lunch break. You are encouraged to bring lunch due to the short break and to maximize training time.

This training is free to agencies that are contracted with DMHAS or are NJAMHAA member agencies.

There is a fee for if your agency is only licensed with DMHAS or not a member of the NJAMHAA trade association.

About the Instructor:

Jerome Scriptunas has been working with Microsoft Power BI since 2016. He has completed the Microsoft courses: Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Power BI; Microsoft’s “Dashboard In A Day” at the Microsoft Technology Center in Malvern, PA; and the Power BI Black Belt Series from the Microsoft Academy. He is the Power BI User Group (PUG) leader for Central NJ managed by Dynamic Communities and is facilitating monthly PUG meetings at the Microsoft Store in the Freehold Raceway Mall. Jerome has guided the implementation, use, and training of Power BI within a Care Management Organization and has worked with organizations in New Jersey’s System of Care to use Power BI with their Office 365 and SharePoint Online platforms. In addition, Jerome is also the leader of the Jersey Shore Tech4Good MeetUp group, sponsored by NetSquared.org, a program of TechSoup.org. In addition to providing training and consulting on Power BI, Jerome manages YTBNJ.org, a 501c3 nonprofit for Youth TimeBanking, a community practice for youth civic engagement. Jerome has presented and co-presented Power BI sessions at the NJAMHAA IT Conferences in 2017 & 2019, the TCOM Conference in Chicago in 2018, and led a Power BI exhibit at the 2017 DCF Performance Improvement Fair. His YTBNJ team is prototyping a mobile app with a data connection to Power BI.

Please note that this workshop is sponsored 100% by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and is FREE to its contracted/funded agencies or NJAMHAA member agencies. Agencies that are licensed but not contracted with DMHAS have to pay the nominal fee to attend.

No Show Policy: As with any event, there is a cost to providing FREE workshops to the community. DMHAS and the IT Project work with presenters to offer training that addresses current, relevant topics and depend on those who sign up to actually attend. Therefore, a $100 fee will be charged to those who do not cancel or give 24 hour notice that they will not be able to attend the event for which they have registered. SUBSTITUTIONS ARE PERMISSIBLE and preferred to cancellations. We prefer not to have to charge for no-shows so we hope you will attend the event offered
